who we are

After forming several critical partnerships, passing a community bond totaling $8.4M to purchase land and raising more than $1.7M in private funds, construction of the project’s initial phase began in October 2016 and opened to the public on April 13, 2019. Phase 1 included site preparation, four grass fields, two artificial turf fields, concessions/restroom building, landscaping, parking, playground and more.

Together with the City of Bozeman, the Bozeman Sports Parks Foundation is responding to an overwhelming need for additional athletic field space in Bozeman. Uniting diverse user groups and inspired partners, BSPF is leading efforts to enhance recreational access, community infrastructure, and the local economy by developing the Bozeman Sports Park – an 80-acre sports complex and community park strategically located in Bozeman.

Economic Impact

The Bozeman Sports Park isn’t just another park. Its benefits are more tangible, more consistent, and more impactful than other parks and park projects. While the Bozeman Sports Park enhances the health of our community, it simultaneously enhances the health of our economy by generating a real, annual financial return on investment on a grand scale—millions of new dollars to Bozeman every year.

The combination of concentrated field space, some with synthetic surfaces, and supporting amenities, extends the playing seasons and gives Bozeman the opportunity to host multiple, multi-day tournaments. And, in doing so, we will reap staggering rewards. Our research shows that multiple large-scale tournaments could conservatively generate $6 million annually from 8,000–20,000 new visitor days, 3,400+ additional hotel room nights, and innumerable additional meals, gallons of fuel, and retail sales. Moreover, we estimate that the community’s 3-year ROI would be $24,379,407.

Partners & Programs

Understanding that the bold goal of developing a comprehensive sports complex and community park would need a private public partnership in order to be successful, a critical partnership was created between the user groups (Foundation) and the City of Bozeman. The City of Bozeman, looking to develop more park space, funded the initial $8.4M of the project via a public bond. As designed and intended through this partnership, the Bozeman Sports Park will stand as a City owned park, that is managed by the Foundation and maintained by the City.

Our unique operating agreement guarantees that all revenue generated by the Park will be reinvested into the Park (thus bypassing the City’s General Fund) – allowing BSPF to continually improve the Park’s services, amenities and appeal.

Furthermore, it creates optimal management, maintenance and funding efficiencies for the Bozeman Sports Park and provides the project with a large pool of leaders who can lend critical strengths to the Park’s continued development.

In 2024 we partnered with the Bozeman School District to fund and build two turf fields and additional parking directly neighboring Gallatin High School. This portion of the project is scheduled to start in the spring of 2025.
